Fence gates

The gate is the part of a fence you touch every day, and the first part to fail when it is built wrong. We build walk gates, double drive gates and commercial gates in every material we install, set on posts made to carry them.

FAQ

Questions we get a lot

How wide should a driveway gate be?

Measure what will actually drive through, then add room. A 12 foot opening fits most cars and trucks. Trailers and equipment usually need 14 to 16 feet or more. We build gates in any width.

Why do gates sag?

Usually because the gate post is too light or not set deep enough, or the gate frame is not braced. Gate posts carry a lot of leverage, so they need to be heavier and deeper than line posts.

Can you fix a gate that drags or will not latch?

Yes. Often it is the post or the hinges, not the gate. Call us and we will take a look.

Single or double drive gate?

A single gate is simpler for narrower openings. A double gate splits a wide opening into two lighter leaves that are easier to swing and put less strain on the posts.
